A contest registration and information form has been mailed to all County schools to encourage students to participate. If you are involved with a youth agency or have contact with youth, please share this information with them.

Bookmarks are currently being distributed to all Chautauqua County students to announce the 2012 poster contest. The 12 finalist’s posters of the 2011 contest are highlighted on the bookmarks which are also being distributed to all County libraries in the Chautauqua/Cattaraugus Library System.

Due to the in-kind donation of Lamar Billboards and monetary donations from John Anderson and also the Fredonia Beaver Club, there are several billboards going up in the County to promote the contest. They will feature the 2011 Grand Prize poster by Clymer student Justin White.

Open to all Chautauqua County students, grades 3 through 12, a preliminary judging process will eliminate all but 4 posters in each of the 3 grade categories. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the final twelve posters at an award ceremony on March 28th at the Prendergast Library in Jamestown.

Not only are the bookmarks to encourage students to participate in the 2012 contest, but we hope that both the bookmarks and contest will deliver a positive “no use” message to our youth regarding alcohol and other drugs.

For further information about the 2012 contest, call the CASAC offices: Jamestown at 664-3608 or Dunkirk at 366-4623.

We hope to see your poster represented in the 2012 contest. Everyone who enters has a chance to win the 2012 Grand Prize!
